There are a lot of moving parts to construction projects which can mean that they don’t always meet deadlines or stay on budget. Whenever this happens, there may be a breakdown between all the parties involved. Construction disputes can happen for a number of reasons.

Poor Quality of Work

In an industry where time is very important, corners are sometimes cut in order to get the project done on time and on budget. This means that the quality of work is not as great as it ought to be. When this happens, it is important to document the work done with photographs and videos. Make sure there are time stamps on those photos and videos to clearly display the date they were taken.

Delays in Schedule

Schedule delays are inevitable in the construction industry, as any contractor knows. When those delays continue to stretch on and there is no end in sight, frustrations build and a dispute may arise. Communication is key here. Everyone involved should keep each other informed of any changes in the schedule and the reasons behind the change.

Payment Disputes

There are many reasons why a project can end up costing more than originally planned and this often makes way for disputes regarding payment and budget. Work may come to a standstill while the two parties attempt to find a solution. A construction dispute consultant may be a good choice so you may resolve the issue and ensure that everyone upholds their end of the contract.

Breach of Contract

Breach of contract is one of the most common construction disputes. This happens when one of the parties doesn’t complete their part in the contract. This could be anything from not paying the agreed-upon amount, failure to deliver within the contracted time frame or it could even involve the quality of work and materials used.

Poor Communication

Everyone involved in the construction needs to stay in sync during the project or there may be a breakdown in communication. Although there are always adjustments and changes occurring during a construction build, these issues must be communicated. Lack of communication can create a lot of animosity and mistrust. Once the trust is gone, it will be very difficult to earn it back without the help of an outside source.
